RUGER PC CARBINE 9mm
The Ruger PC Carbine 9mm, made by Sturm, Ruger & Co., is a blowback centerfire semi-automatic pistol-caliber carbine that uses the same 9 mm Parabellum and.40 S&W ammunition and magazines as the P-Series pistols. It was created as an accessory for some Ruger Pistol-Series semi-automatic handguns.
The PC4 (.40 S&W variant) and PC9 (the 9 mm version) are both based on Ruger’s wildly popular Ruger 10/22 rimfire carbine. Although it could also be purchased by civilians, it is designed as a shoulder-braced weapon for law enforcement use. The aim is for an officer to carry a Ruger P-Series pistol as a sidearm and to always have a Police Carbine on hand for more aggressive situations (maybe in the patrol car). As pistols frequently only have 4-inch (100 mm) barrels, the PC-9’s 16-inch (410 mm) barrel allows it to produce greater muzzle energy with the same ammo, giving it better stopping power, accuracy, and effective range than handguns.
Due to poor demand, Ruger stopped making the original Pistol Carbine in 2007. On December 29, 2017, more than ten years after the initial release, Ruger announced the re-introduction of a new, upgraded 9 mm takedown model with the name “ruger pc carbine 9mm.” This weapon has a 16.12-inch (409 mm) threaded barrel and accepts magazines from multiple manufacturers, including the Glock, Ruger American Pistol, and the new Ruger Security-9 pistols, in addition to the Ruger SR9 pistol magazine. Early in 2019, Ruger revived the.40 S&W caliber along with a variation PC Carbine model with a free-floating M-LOK handguard.
The polymer stock has slots and rails for AR grips and accessories, a 6-position, telescopic buttstock, an ergonomic pistol grip, an aluminum handguard, and more.
